The Paradise Center for the Arts in Historic downtown Faribault is proud to present Minnesota's award-winning comedian, Tommy Ryman in the Bahl Family Auditorium this Friday, April 6 at 7:30 pm.

Tommy Ryman grew up with a new-age, folksinging mother, and a traditional, Lutheran insurance-agent father. This XY equation evidently equals acclaimed comedian. Ryman has earned the title of Semifinalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Roseanne Barr, a professed fan, raves she has “never seen anything like [Tommy] before in [her] whole life, [he is] one-of-a-kind, fantastic!”

Ryman’s act can be described as absurdist and clever, masked behind a very likable and innocent demeanor, often thought of as disturbingly adorable. He is a favorite among audiences at top clubs and colleges around the nation, and he is regularly featured on Rooftop Comedy, SiriusXM, and iheartradio. Early in his career, Ryman was sought out by some of the nation’s top comedians opening for the likes of Louie Anderson, Maria Bamford, and Nick Swardson. He was invited to perform at the prestigious Great American Comedy Festival at the Johnny Carson Theater. Metro Magazine named Ryman one of  the Twin Cities Funniest People, saying " Tommy Ryman may be young, but he's definitely one of the best comics in the Twin Cities."

Ryman brings his laugh-till-your-sides-hurt act to the Paradise Center for the Arts on Friday, April 6 at 7:30 pm. Kristen Twitchell, executive director at the Paradise, had the opportunity to preview his act at a showcase: "I still can't get over just how funny he is. I know his comedy will be a hit with southern Minnesotans." Twitchell said he reminds her of C. Willie Myles, a fan favorite at the Paradise: "Their acts and material are very different, but the comedy is clean and smart and makes you laugh at some of the things that are true, absurdly Minnesotan."

kristen Twitchell Executive Director for the Paradise will be on AM Minnesota on Monday. Later in the week, they will be talking about the musical Annie that is coming back soon.
