Country music superstars Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood are teaming up for Urban's new single, "The Fighter," released on Monday (Feb. 6).

"The Fighter," co-written by Urban and pop-country producer and songwriter busbee, features a pop vibe, incorporating futuristic-like sound effects and lyrics such as "What if I fall / I won't let you fall / What if I cry / I'll never make you cry / And if I get scared / I'll hold you tighter / When they're tryna get to you baby / I'll be the fighter." The track is featured on Urban's latest No. 1 album, Ripcord.

“It comes from a very real place. It’s a song about helping to heal and protect someone you love. It’s a song about reassurance that you'll always be there to take the blows the world can throw," Urban says in a press release about the song, adding that his previous collaborations with Underwood made her a perfect fit for the single.

“I loved the song when I first heard it and was excited to work with Keith on new music,” Underwood says. “I had such a great time touring Australia and New Zealand with him in December, and can’t wait to perform 'The Fighter' on the Grammys!”

"The Fighter" serves as the fifth single off Ripcord and follows the album's four consecutive chart-topping tracks, including "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16" and Urban's most recent No. 1 hit, "Blue Ain't Your Color." Ripcord is nominated for Best Country Album at the 2017 Grammy Awards on Sunday (Feb. 12), where Urban and Underwood are set to take the stage to perform the new track.
