Triton FFA member Katie Fitzgerald was recognized with Minnesota FFA's highest honor. The 2020 Minnesota FFA Star Farmer. Katie is the daughter of David and Ann Fitzgerald of West Concord. Her ag teachers and FFA advisors are Robert Ickler and Mitchel Dinse.

Katie has managed and raised a 13 head herd of registered Shorthorn and Angus cattle which was her Supervised Agricultural Experience. Using phenotypic and genotypic traits Katie has made all the breeding and mating decisions. Plus she has learned about feeding cattle from nutritionist LeeAnn Waugh.

Katie has been able to share her passion for the cattle industry by beginning a mentorship program for youth so they can learn more about their beef projects. She will go to their farm and help them learn about how to lead, groom and set up cattle. In addition to of course showing her cattle in FFA and 4-H.

Katie plans to attend South Dakota State University. Her major, of course animal science and agricultural business.
