One of the fun things about going to the Minnesota State Fair is seeing the newest and greatest inventions. Maybe the new household gadgets, cars, pick-ups, lawn equipment, electronics you name it. On the other extreme is seeing really old things. Friday as I was walking from the parking lot to the swine barn I noticed a lineup of old tractors and gasoline engines. In that area there was an ice cream vendor that got my attention.

They were not selling John Deere ice cream, but rather ice cream that was made with an old John Deere engine. There was an older gentleman sitting in a chair taking a break. They were really busy so I resisted the temptation to ask him about the engine and making ice ream. It was pretty neat to see an old engine still working.
