24-Year-Old Rochester Man Arrested Three Days After Fleeing Attempted Traffic Stop
24-year-old Madio Geovanni Callahan is charged with felony fleeing, fifth-degree drug possession and gross misdemeanor driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety.
The charges allege an officer on patrol saw Callahan driving a vehicle with expired registration and a cracked windshield along 37th St. NW. Once the officer was able to identify Callahan, who has a canceled driving status, as the driver, he attempted to stop Callahan.
The charges say Callahan refused to stop once the officer activated his squad vehicle’s emergency lights.
Callahan was seen jumping a curb near the intersection of East Frontage Rd and 37th St. NW, driving onto a grassy area then proceeding south on 21st Ave. NW, the complaint says.
The officer decided not to pursue. He aired the situation over dispatch and proceeded south on 21st Ave. looking for Callahan.
The officer then found the vehicle Callahan crashed in a ditch along 21st Ave. with the driver’s side door opened. Callahan was nowhere to be found, leading the officer to suspect Callahan had fled from the vehicle on foot, the complaint says.
