According to a statement issued earlier this week by Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson, officers responded around 11 p.m. Tuesday to a home in the 5800 block of Edelweiss Lane Northwest. Upon their arrival, the officers spoke with a man who told them he had been attacked in his garage.

The police report on the incident says the victim indicated he was approached by three suspects dressed in black and was struck on the head with a gun before his attackers drove away in his vehicle.

Grayson says law enforcement was able to track the stolen vehicle as it headed north out of Rochester on Highway 52. Stop sticks were deployed on the highway in Dakota County near the Farmington exit, and the three occupants fled on foot after the vehicle stopped. Two of the suspects were apprehended nearby, but the third apparently managed to elude law enforcement.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office released a video recorded from a law-enforcement drone at the scene.

The juvenile petitions filed against Riek and Cham charge both teenagers with first-degree carjacking, first-degree aggravated robbery, second-degree assault, and two counts of first-degree burglary.
