Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The charges brought against a Rochester man earlier this year after a raid on his home have been dismissed.

Court records indicate that 30-year-old Howard Lee Wilson was charged with four felony counts of illegal possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of a violent crime. The criminal case filed against him in January says Rochester police discovered a semi-automatic pistol, two handguns, and loose ammunition while executing a search warrant at his residence.

A Check With Illinois Courts Determined the Charges Were Not Warranted

The court document says investigators obtained the warrant after receiving a report that Wilson was posting sexually explicit photos and videos of others, making threats, and posting videos of himself with two handguns. The criminal complaint alleged that the semi-automatic pistol seized by police was identified as a stolen firearm after it was cross-checked through a law-enforcement database.

The motion to dismiss the charges filed in Olmsted County Court this week states that prosecutors were provided with additional information concerning that case and it was determined that Howard does not have a prior conviction for a crime of violence and had been discharged from probation in the Illinois case.
