It's a sad day for many as a beloved K9 officer in the Hermantown Police Department has passed away. Tuuko served with his partner, Sgt. Griffin Pfeiffer for 10 years, before retiring this last December. Sadly, Tuuko suffered a short, terminal illness.

The Hermantown Police Department has shared the accomplishments of Tuuko several times over the years. Just 2 years ago, his K9 team won first place in the USPCA Trials in Hudson, Wisconsin.

K9 Officer Tuuko was a beloved dog. The PD describes him as a trusted partner, loyal companion, and cherished member of the Hermantown Police Department family.

Here's a fun photo of Tuuko, waiting to get out in the blizzard and on patrol.

Tuuko retired in December of 2025, where he transitioned into the Pfeiffer family dog. The bond created between the officer and their K9 Partner is unlike any other. When the K9 ages out of service, the dog is allowed to spend the rest of their retirement years with their family.

Sadly, in early June, he became seriously ill and was diagnosed with liver failure. His longtime partner, Sgt. Pfeiffer made the difficult and compassionate decision to have him humanely euthanized.

Hermantown Police Department thanks Tuuko for his years of dedicated service and the positive impact he had on the department and community.

They ask to keep Sgt. Pfeiffer and his family are in your thoughts during this difficult time.
