It's getting to be that time of the year when you lay your money down and take a shot at bringing home that prized turkey or succulent ham. Of course I'm talking about Poultry Bingo at the Knights of Columbus in Faribault and I'm sure it's played at various venues across the Power 96 listening area. But for the purpose of this story I'm going to focus on the local event.

When my kids were young, my mother-in-law would bring them and some of the other grandkids to Bingo Poultry. She really enjoyed playing regular bingo every Friday night and really looked forward to playing bingo to bring home a turkey or ham and taking a shot at the meat raffles that went on throughout the afternoon. The kids always liked helping Grandma cover the numbers as they were called out and got a kick out being able to yell out "Bingo!" when she'd have a winning card. They never failed to bring home something to throw into the oven for Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Where is all this leading? Well good question my friend, and here's the answer. This Sunday, November 13, the Knights of Columbus in downtown Faribault is hosting Poultry Bingo. Wake up and start your day off with a delicious breakfast at the Faribault Girls Basketball Breakfast Fundraiser from 8:15AM to 12:15PM. They'll be serving up all-you-can-eat pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs, ham, sausage, juice, milk and coffee. Tickets are available in advance for $8 from any girls basketball player, $9 at the door. Then stick around for Bingo Poultry starting at 1:30 where you can score a frozen turkey or ham donated by Jennie-O and Hormel. It's an afternoon of bingo fun, and who doesn't like winning food?
