The University of Minnesota Extension and IPM program will be hosting a insect and disease field day at the Rosemount Research and Outreach Center 16975 Arkansas Avenue Rosemount on Wednesday. The program will run tomorrow morning from 8:30 am until 1:00 pm. Registration is just $25 and includes the lunch and all program materials. Pre-registration is always appreciated but not required. Dr. Bob Koch, University of Minnesota Extension Entomologist will give an overview of soybean aphid management, techniques for scouting, continued validity of the economic threshold of 250 aphids per plant and insecticide resistant soybean aphids. Dr. Dean Malvick will give an update on soybean and corn diseases including sudden death syndrome and white mold in soybeans, northern leaf blight, bacterial leaf streak and Goss's leaf blight in corn. Dr. Ken Ostlie and Edwin Benkert will give an update on corn rootworm status and management strategies on transgenic Bt corn and insecticides.
