What do you do on the first drive of the football season after you've graduated one of the top running backs in the history of the state of Minnesota? In Owatonna's case, you call for a run every time on a 13-play drive. The two-time defending state champion Huskies scored on that series and went on to beat Rochester Century 44-7 Friday night at the Owatonna football field.

Starting tailback Zach Stansky carried seven times for 54 yards on the opening drive of the game but limped off the field with the ball at the Panthers' four-yard line. Ethan Walter entered and grabbed the glory of the first touchdown of the game. Walter also caught an 18-yard scoring strike from Brayden Truelson for a 13-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Stransky had ten carries for 70 yards and a touchdown according to the KRFO stats, but had to be helped off the field in the second quarter. Tanner Hall had 11 carries for 43 yards. Truelson carried eight times for 19 yards and two touchdowns. Walter had four carries for 19 yards. Isaac Gefre added three carries for 11 yards.

The Huskies gained just over 200 yards rushing while reaching 280 yards passing. Truelson went 13-for-19 for 247 yards and one touchdown. Sol Havelka completed his two passes including a 24-yard scoring toss to Matt Williams who dragged a defender into the south end zone that gave the Huskies a 30-0 halftime lead.

Owatonna's defense limited Century to 43 rushing yards and about 150 yards through the air. Ethan Rohman was involved in at least a couple of sacks and several tackles-for-a-loss. He earned the TPS Insurance Player of the Game honors. Gefre and Matt Seykora both stood out on defense as well.

Sam Henson went four-for-four on extra-point tries and added a 25-yard field goal. Aaron Bangs also kicked an extra point. Dalten Wincell and Talis Alwes were among the special teams players that delivered big hits.

The win was the 20th in a row for Owatonna. Their last loss came at Northfield in week seven of the 2017 season. The Huskies go to Northfield for the first time since that game next Friday, September 6 for a 7 pm kickoff. Coverage will be heard on KRFO AM 1390 and the KRFO app. The Raiders lost to Rochester Mayo Friday night 48-15.
