Here’s What’s Open & Closed Today on Veterans Day
Today is Veterans Day, observed every year on November 11th, to honor military veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
First and foremost, thank you to all the veterans and active members of our country's military, as well as their families for their dedication, bravery, and sacrifices they make every day to keep America strong and free.
It always seems like every day should be Veterans Day in America. And at least in our hearts I hope it is.
What's Open & Closed Today?
Schools, Colleges, and Universities: Many are closed across Minnesota in observance of Veterans Day.
Retail: Major retailers such as Target, Walmart, Hy-Vee, Aldi and other grocery chains will be open today. Costco & Sam's Club will also be open. So will Menards, Lowe's, and Home Depot. Liquor stores? Open.
Government Services: Most of this stuff will be closed today. Need a drivers license? Probably not going to get one today. Your library? Probably closed. Plates & tabs for for vehicle? Nope. Think along those lines.
Mail & Other Delivery Services: The U.S. Postal Service will essentially be closed today -- not picking up or delivering mail. Post offices will be closed. FedEX and UPS will be operating normally.
Restaurants, Bars, and Cafes: Most will be open as normal.
Banks & Other Financial Stuff: Most banks will be closed today, but they don't have to be, so yours could be an exception. The New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ will be open and trading today.
Hospitals & Urgent Care: Open for business as usual, because that need never gets to take a day off.
Small Locally-Owned Businesses: Most will be open as usual.
