Are you like me? Are you getting a TON of those spam calls on your phone? Here's how you can try to stop them and keep your phone from ringing all the time!

I'm not sure how I ended up getting so many of those stupid calls, but it seems like my phone is always ringing these days. But it's rarely a call from someone I know. Some days are worse than others, but on average, I probably get 2 or 3 spam calls a day. Sheesh.

It's gotten so bad that I really only ever answer a call if it's from someone I know, whose number is probably already in my contacts. And, according to THIS Moneyish story, that's a good first step in trying to stop those spam calls.

In addition to not answering, if you do ever pick up (like I did accidentally), never say 'yes,' to any question the person on the other end might ask. Politely ask why they need that information instead. There's a scam going around where they take your 'yes' and use it to bill you got fraudulent charges. Best to not answer at all.

You can also check with the FCC and list your cell number of the Do Not Call registry. (Get more on that HERE.) Or, you can download several new apps that are designed to try to get a handle on all those unwanted calls. (Check them out HERE.)

The only enjoyment I get out of all these unwanted calls is seeing the location where the call supposedly originates. I've had calls from just about everywhere, it seems, from big cities like New York City and Miami, to small places I've never heard of, like Angel Fire, California or Redfield, South Dakota. I've even had a few calls from overseas, from places like Iraq (seriously!) or Egypt. Yeah, I'm sure someone I know is calling me from the Middle East. Suffice it to say, I didn't answer any of those.
