Goodhue County 4-H Livestock Auction

The annual Goodhue County 4-H Livestock Auction was held Saturday morning in the Livestock Show Arena. The day began with a complimentary buyers breakfast served in the 4-H Building. It was great to see so many business and individuals there to show their support for the 4-H program in Goodhue County. There are about 600 4-H members in Goodhue County. About 200 members had one of their livestock projects in the auction. The auction began at 9AM and was not done until after noon!

In Goodhue County, 80 percent of the bid premium goes to the 4-H member with the livestock project and 20 percent goes to the Goodhue County 4-H Foundation. That 20 percent helps pay for state fair trips, leadership camps and other activities for all the 4-H members in Goodhue County. It seems each county handles their 4-H auction and how the bid premiums are divided up differently. There is no right way or wrong way but whatever works best for each county.
