Going Strong For 39 Years, The Geneva Cancer Auction Is Coming Up

Mark your calendars for January 7, 8, 14, and 15 as the Geneva Cancer Auction will be held during its normal time at the Geneva Bar and Grill. The auction which last year surpassed $2 million dollars in total contributions towards cancer research, was postponed until later in the year, due to Covid-19 regulations.

The auction is one of the largest in that area, that benefits the Eagles Cancer Telethon, has been going on in some form for the last 39 years, it was in 1985 that the event started to become what it is today, which is one part party, and one part lending a hand to those who are or had suffered from cancer in their or a family members lifetime.

I've had the pleasure of attending this event in the past, and if you aren't there a little early, plan to wait for a spot to sit. The experience is itself a reason to go. There are plates of Christmas cookies that go for $90, Hope butter can go for $200 a pound, and other assorted items that are being auctioned off go for HUGE dollars, as the community opens their hearts and wallets towards cancer research.

On top of the annual auction that supports cancer research, there are other events help throughout the year to benefit cancer research, like the Wild Game Feed that took place earlier in December, and there are purse bingo games held throughout the year in which the proceeds to towards the Eagles Cancer Telethon.

There isn't a list for auction items, as items come in even the day of the auction, so your best bet to see what's available is heading to the auction early. The auction begins Fridays at 7pm and Saturdays at 2pm.
