It was a busy time Friday morning at the Food Awareness Day at the Hy-Vee Food Store in Faribault. The Rice County Farm Bureau along with the Dakota Rice Corn and Soybean Growers, Minnesota Turkey Growers, Rice County Pork Producers, Rice County American Dairy Association and Hy-Vee sponsored the Food Awareness Day. Everyone enjoyed talking with shoppers about agriculture and how their food gets to the grocery store. In this day and age consumers really want to know how their food is producer.

Even though we live in a great country with safe, abundant and very affordable food, there are some families that do not have food security. Linda with the Rice County Food Shelf stopped by again this year. For many years all the groups sponsoring the Food Awareness Day have made a cash donation to the Rice County Food Shelf to help those in need. By the way, special thanks to the Hy-Vee Food Store in Faribault for letting us into the store today!
