Don't forget to get your real estate taxes in the mail today! The first half is due May 15 and that is today. You can go to your County Auditor Treasurer's office and drop off a check or of course you can mail it in. Just make sure it is postmarked today. If not a late fee can be charged. A few years ago I got really busy and completely forgot to send my real estate taxes. I had to pay a late fee but at lease my name was not published on the delinquent tax rolls!

It is convenient that almost all home loans have an escrow account. They are set up so there is enough money in the account to pay the real estate taxes and the homeowners insurance. Then the bank pays the taxes and the insurance. I am quite certain this is set up to protect their collateral. They know the real estate taxes and insurance are up to date if they send the payments!
