Some farmers have been mailed a ballot from the USDA for their local Farm Service Agency County Committee elections. The deadline is today to return them to their Farm Service Agency office or get them in the mail and postmarked today. If you did not receive a ballot your Local Administrative Area (LAA) may not be having an election this year. Counties are divided into LAA's and the elections are staggered so there will always be some experience on the County Committee.

I received a ballot last year but not this year so I assume my LAA is not having an election this year. FSA County Committee members serve a 3 year term. If you received a ballot I am sure FSA staff would appreciate you dropping it in the mail instead of dropping it off given the pandemic. If you did not receive a ballot or never have give your Farm Service Agency a call and see if you are eligible to vote.

"County Committee members help FSA make important decisions on its commodity support programs, conservation programs, indemnity and disaster programs, and emergency programs and eligibility" said Farm Service Agency Administrator Richard Fordyce.
