This is the fourth year that the American Farm Bureau and Purina teamed up to sponsor the Farm Bureau Farm dog of the Year contest. Needless to say it has been very popular. The contest "celebrates farm dogs and the many ways they support farmers and ranchers in producing nutritious food for families and their pets across America." "Farm dogs often play a dual role as both working dogs and companions to farm families, which is especially important because farming and ranching can be stressful, even on the best days" said AFBF President Zippy Duvall.

The Farm Bureau Farm Dog of the Year grand prize is $5,000 plus a years supply of Purina dog food plus recognition at the January 2022 American Farm Bureau Convention. Farm dog owners must be Farm Bureau members. eligibility guidelines and submission requirements can be found on the website: www.fb.org/land/fdoty. Nominations include written answers to questions, still photos and a video clip is optional. I am certain a video of a dog moving livestock would be very helpful along with just being a companion in a tractor or combine cab!
