According to the Minnesota State Patrol report, Laura Lucille Lavine, 60, of Faribault, was killed after being struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling north on Interstate 35W at Highway 13 in Burnsville. Lavine apparently entered the freeway from a right angle into the traffic lanes and was struck by the Jeep.

The State Patrol identified the driver of the Jeep as Laura Lee Koeppl, 40, of Burnsville. The report indicated she had been drinking but was not over the legal limit. A toxicology report is being performed on Lavine to verify whether she had been drinking.

According to the Faribault Daily News, State Patrol spokesperson Lt. Tiffani Nielson said there is not usually pedestrian traffic in the area of the accident. A reconstruction of the incident is being done and, according to Nielson, that takes about six months to get the results.

It's then up to the prosecuting attorney to file charges or not.
