The Faribault Falcons and Owatonna Huskies Hockey Day Minnesota game Saturday was moved due to weather conditions.  The two Big Nine rivals were looking forward to participating in the special day.  The game was rescheduled for February 10, 2020.

The game will feature two of the top scoring teams in the conference.  Rochester Century has 87 goals, Owatonna 70 and Faribault 68 total to top the Big Nine in all games played.  It is interesting to note when examining conference games only Century has 53 goals, Owatonna and Northfield each have 40 to lead the Big Nine.  Faribault drops to 8th in the league with 24 goals.

The Huskies have the best penalty kill in Big Nine competition at 95.5 percent.  They have the second fewest penalties in conference games.  Faribault has done a good job staying out of the penalty box in conference action also ranking 3rd in fewest penalties but their penalty kill of 82.6 percent is 6th among the Big Nine's 12 teams.

If you are wondering, Mankato East has taken the fewest penalties in league action and is second in penalty kill at 94.4 percent.  Austin and John Marshall are tied for the most whistles in Big 9 play, 43 each.  The Packers are 10th and Rockets 3rd on the penalty kill in conference games 69.8 percent and 88.4 percent respectively.

The best power play in Big Nine competition is owned by Rochester Century at 44.1 percent.  Oweatonna ranks third (26.7%), Faribault has struggled with the advantage ranking 10th (11.8%).

In the Big Nine Owatonna goalies have allowed the fewest goals per game (1.14).  Only Rochester Century joins the Huskies in allowing fewer than 2 goals in conference play.  The Falcons are 4th in the league in goals allowed per game (2.43).

Individual scoring in conference only games is led by Century's Lyncoln Bielenberg-Howarth (14 goals-27 points), next in goals are Spencer Klotz of Northfield and Joey Malugani of Rochester Century (12 each).  Next in points Carson VanZuilen of Northfield (23).  Klotz and Malugani have 22 points each in Big Nine play.  Layton Liffrig of Mankato East is the only other player in  the conference with 20 points in league play.

Owatonna goalie Zach Wiese has the best goals against average (1.21) and save percentage (.933) in conference play among goalies who have played significant time between the pipes.  Tim Pundt of Rochester Century is next in goals against (1.71).  Spencer Ell of Faribault is second in save percentage (.929).
