Faribault used four pitchers in the game with an opener in Blake Borwege going the first inning with just one hit allowed and 4 batters faced. Borwege threw 14 pitches, 8 strikes. Zach VanThomme toed the rubber for the next 2 and 1/3 innings with 9 hits, 7 runs, 5 earned, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts. VanThomme threw 54 pitches, 33 for strikes.

In the second game Faribault took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning thanks in part to an error by the Rochester Mayo Hawks in my scorebook. With two outs Faribault Post 43 #9 hitter in the order Tim Leider was hit by a pitch on a 2-1 count, Jack Jandro reached base on an error before Noah Murphy clubbed a two run single and took second base on the throw home.
The Hawks responded with a 4 run 5th inning aided by a couple errors. There were 3 hits in the inning. Kip Bonde started the game going 4 and 1/3 innings, allowing all four runs, 1 earned, struck out 3, walked 2, hit a batter. Bonde threw 61 pitches, 38 for strikes. Josh Oathoudt slammed the door on Mayo in the 5th and faced 12 batters total in his 2 and 2/3 innings of work. Oathoudt struck out 4, walked 1 and allowed 1 hit. He threw 40 pitches, 25 strikes.
With the losses Faribault's record is now 2-10. The Post 43 Faribault Legion team hosts Sleepy Eye Monday at 7:30 p.m.
