The Minnesota American Legion Division 1 Sub-State 2 Baseball Tournament opens Wednesday in New Ulm with 8 teams hoping to advance.  There are 10 teams in the Sub-State.  Two teams elected not to play in the playoffs.  Waseca and St. Peter.

Faribault Legion Manager Charlie Lechtenberg tells KDHL his team has three injured players and is going to have to scramble to get 9 or 10 guys to participate in the daytime games in New Ulm.

Faribault is the #7 seed and plays #2 Mankato American in their first game at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.  If they win they play Thursday, 10:30 a.m.  Lose and they play 2:00 p.m. Thursday.

The top seed in the tournament is New Ulm Gold.  One of the top ranked teams in Division 1 American Legion baseball in the state.  Gold opens with Fairmont 7:00 p.m. Thursday.  Winner plays 1:00 p.m. Thursday.  Loser 2:00 p.m. Thursday.

#3 seed Sleepy Eye tangles with #6 Worthington at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.  Winner plays Faribault game winner on Thursday.  Loser takes the field 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

#4 seed Jordan and #5 seed Mankato Nationals go toe to toe 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with the winner taking on the New Ulm game victor at 1:00 p.m. Thursday and the loser plays the loser of the Faribault game Thursday.

The double elimination tournament continues through the weekend.
