Faribault Lakers Get Back on Winning Track
The Faribault Lakers went into the 4th of July holiday break with a loss a week ago. Wednesday night they had very good pitching en route to a 4-2 win over Red Wing at Bell Field.
Blake Langerud set the table for the offense going 4 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Nate Rost did not miss a home run to left field by much while knocking in the first run of the game with a double off the extended fence in the first inning. The Lakers took a 2-0 lead in the first following a Nick Rost RBI.
Tyler Francis went the first five innings, Zach Van Thomme went 3 innings on the mound for Faribault, Nick Rost struck out the side to end the game in the 9th inning.
In the second inning Jack Jandro stroked a one out single. Adam Kline hit the ball resulting in an error. Langerud sent Jandro home with a single and Faribault was up 3-0.
Nate Rost also knocked in Langerud in the fifth inning.
Francis allowed 2 hits in 5 innings with 1 walk, 1 strikeout and no runs throwing 50 pitches, 37 strikes.
Van Thomme gave up 4 hits in 3 innings with 2 runs scored, 0 earned, walked 2 and struck out 1. He threw 53 pitches, 33 strikes.
Rost had 15 pitches, 11 strikes to slam the door on the Aces.
Faribault is now 13-8. Red Wing falls to 11-13.
The Lakers racked up 11 hits with 3 errors. Red Wing had 6 hits and 1 error.
Faribault hosts Webster Friday at 7:30 p.m. then goes to Veseli Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
