There was plenty of action on the base paths in Webster Sunday when the Faribault Lakers outscored the Webster Sox 9-7.  The Lakers jumped out to a 7-0 lead going into the bottom of the 4th inning. In the bottom of the 9th the game ended with the bases loaded for the Sox.

Faribault second baseman Mitch Johnson led the second inning with a single then scored on a Jake Stocker single which followed a two out Mike Carpentier single.

Adam Kline led the 3rd inning with a single.  Matt Lane singled followed by a Joey Grote RBI single for Faribault.  They would end the inning with the bases loaded.

Webster starting pitcher John Barten was knocked out in the 4th inning after back to back doubles by Carpentier and Jake Stocker made the score 4-0.  William Chalmers coaxed a ground out before an RBI single by Blake Langerud, followed by a error.  Joey Grote then cracked a 2 RBI triple to make the score 6-0.  Mitch Johnson completed the scoring with a sacrifice fly to score Grote.

Porter Sartor started the game for the Lakers and threw 77 pitches with 44 for strikes after four innings.  He struck out 5 batters, walked 3 and hit a batter.  Joey Grote got the win throwing the next 4 plus innings.  He struck out 6 batters, walked 6 while throwing 86 pitches, 45 for strikes.  Grote left after facing two batters in the ninth with a walk and fielder's choice recorded on an error.

Matt Lane earned the save for Faribault by getting all three ninth inning outs on strikeouts.  Another error extended the inning and a walk loaded the bases.  Lane threw 20 pitches, 14 strikes with 3 strikeouts, 1 walk and no hits allowed.

Down 7-0 Webster got a lead single in the bottom of the 4th inning off the bat of Jack Meyer.  After a strikeout, catcher Matt Drexl hit an opposite field single.  A pop out was the second out before the number 9 hitter was hit by a pitch and lead off batter in the order collected a RBI on a walk.

Brooks Prochaska had a 2 RBI single and the lead was cut to 7-3.

The Sox drew to within a run after a 3 run 5th inning.  Joey Grote entered the game on the hill and struck out the first batter.  Following a walk there was a pop out.  Drexl then walked before Dave Picha smacked a 1-2 count pitch for a 2 RBI double to right center field.  Picha would score on an error making the score 7-6.

Sartor led off the 7th inning with a single before Carpentier recorded his 5th hit of the day but was also thrown out on the bases for the second time.  He would finish with 2 doubles and 3 singles and an RBI.  Stocker then collected his third hit of the afternoon before Adam Kline got his second hit.  Kline would later score on a passed ball to finish the scoring for Faribault.

There were a lot of runners on the bases in this game with the Lakers stranding 10 runners, 7 in scoring position and the Sox left 14 runners on base, 9 in scoring position.
