The 2016 Minnesota State High School League state boys swimming and diving competition begins with diving preliminaries Thursday.

Faribault has no divers competing this year but a junior from Northfield is competing.

Jack Cuddy hits the pool with the other Class A divers in the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center at noon Thursday.

Class 2A diving preliminaries start at 6PM Thursday. Swimming preliminaries are noon Friday for Class A and 6PM for Class AA.

Swim tickets will not be sold to the public on Thursday.

The Class A swimming and diving finals are noon Saturday and the Class AA swimming and diving finals are at 6PM Saturday.

Remember, last season the Faribault Falcons placed third in the state in Class A.

St. Thomas Academy of Mendota Heights is looking for its fifth consecutive state title. They have a good chance because they have qualified someone in every event.

In Class 2A, the Eagan Wildcats are looking for their second straight.

Falcon Paul Sadergaski has the fastest qualifying time in the Class A field in the 100-yard butterfly.

He placed fifth last year.
