Faribault Falcon sophomores McKayla Armbruster and Abby Van Ryn stopped by Bashers/J&J Bowling Center to talk about the historic perfect game thrown last Thursday against Northfield.

Van Ryn calls all her own pitches and Armbruster told us she rarely shakes Abby off because they've developed a very good chemistry.

Armbruster also talks about how the entire team was essential in accomplishing the historic perfect game. It was a 10-0 five-inning win over Northfield at Alexander Park in Faribault. It is believed to be the first perfect game thrown in Faribault Falcon softball history.

Both girls told me they believed playing Northfield also made them even more focused to do well last Thursday because last year they lost a couple of close games to the fellow Rice County community.

We also touched briefly on a big game for Faribault tomorrow when they go to Mankato East High School to play one of the Big Nine Conference favorites.

The Falcons defeated one of the other teams that had to be considered favorites coming into the season when they traveled to Winona and came home 6-1 victors in their season opener.

These are two very well-spoken young women and you can understand why they are successful when you hear them speak and watch them play a game they genuinely love.
