Again this year Town Square Media KDHL in Faribault and KRFO in Owatonna teamed up with the University of Minnesota Extension in Rice and Steele County to sponsor the annual County Crops Day. Special thanks to Claire LaCanne at the Rice and Steele County Extension office for setting up the program. Registration with coffee and rolls is at 9:30 and the program runs from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the 4-H Building on the Rice County Fairgrounds.

There is no charge and you do not have to pre-register, just show up for some very timely topics for corn and soybean growers! Topics include corn tar spot, while mold and other crop diseases with Dean Malvick, mid-season application of nitrogen into corn with Jeff Vetsch, weed management updates with Ryan Miller, and other hot topics with Dave Nicolai and Claire LaCanne.

In addition Pamela Stahlke with the USDA Risk Management Agency will be there to talk about making the most of your crop insurance in 2023. It is not very often farmers can talk with someone from the USDA Risk Management Agency! I hope to see a lot of farmers in the 4-H Building tomorrow for the annual County Crops Day!
