Thursday afternoon we had a great time at the annual Food Awareness Day at Hy-Vee in Faribault. Food Awareness Day was sponsored by the Rice County Farm Bureau, Rice County Pork Producers, Minnesota Turkey Growers, Dakota Rice Corn and Soybean Growers and of course Hy-Vee in Faribault. It was fun to greet the customers when they came into Hy-Vee, pass out discount coupons and talk about what farmers do.

There was also a sizable donation that was made to the Rice County Food Shelf. In the picture left to right, Kim Halvorson representing the Minnesota Turkey Growers, Randy Hansen president of the Rice County Farm Bureau, Linda Gerr with the Rice County Food Shelf, Jeff Schultz with the Dakota Rice Corn and Soybean Growers and Rice County Pork Producers and Al Meyer with the Rice County American Dairy Association.

This was the firs year we moved Food Awareness Day at Hy-Vee to the afternoon. In the past it was always in the morning. We thought there may be more shoppers in the afternoon stopping by after work.
