Dodge County Cruises by Wanamingo in Hayfield
The Dodge County Diamondbacks cruised to victory today 12-1 over the Wanamingo Jacks in Hayfield. It was the second convincing win in three days. With the forecast calling for rain the game was moved up to a Noon start.
The Jacks appeared to leave their bats home with 3 hits in the game while the Diamondbacks clubbed 14 hits. The boxscore on the Minnesota Baseball Association website did not include any Dodge County statistics.
Wanamingo was the home team but their field has not been approved for games so the contest was played in Hayfield.
The Diamondbacks took a 1-0 lead in the 4th inning, then erupted for 7 runs in the 7th and added 4 runs in the 9th . On Wednesday they defeated Wanamingo 10-0 in Hayfield. The Jacks only run came in the 7th inning.
Sam Roosen had 2 hits for the Jacks and Alex Roosen added the other hit. Wanamingo got a good pitching start from Alex Roosen who went the first six innings and allowed 1 run on a home run. He struck out 8, walked 1 and gave up 7 hits.
Max Bowen then took the ball for one inning with 7 earned runs allowed, 3 walks, a hit batter and 4 hits. Dylan Craig threw the final two innings with 3 of 4 runs earned, 3 hits, 2 strikeouts, 2 walks.
The Jacks are scheduled to play at Pine Island 2:00 p.m. Sunday. They hope to get out of the doldrums of a tough week. After opening the shortened season with a win at Waseca the Jacks dropped three games this week. Wanamingo was outscored 33-6.
The Jacks are 1-2 in Twin Rivers action and 1-3 overall. Dodge County travels to Owatonna Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. start and hosts Stewartville-Racine Friday, 7:30 p.m.
