Youth 1st of Owatonna had its most successful Baseball & BBQ fundraiser to date in June, receiving a check for over $5,000 from their partner Cash Wise Foods of Owatonna. Youth 1st turned right around and donated $550 to the Owatonna Parks and Recreation Youth Scholarship Fund.

Mark Arjes, founder and director of Youth 1st said, "Owatonna Parks and Recreation has been a Youth 1st sponsor since 2010 and we believe that park and recreation programs will be in even higher demand as families conserve resources due to the economic impact of the pandemic." Arjes said, "Our lunch delivery to local businesses continues to grow and a special thanks to Daikin Applied in Owatonna for including all their lunch shifts. It made this the most successful event to date."

Alexander Prieve of Daikin is happy to assist a local fundraiser, "Daikin Applied has been in Owatonna since 2001, and we are committed to the community and surrounding areas. We employ over 500 people in our Owatonna facility today, over 700 in our two Faribault facilities, and nearly 1,800 across all of Minnesota...Daikin is grateful to play a role in the success of the Youth 1st fundraiser, allowing us to support families locally through the Owatonna Parks and Recreation Scholarship Fund."

Arjes also thanks other businesses including Advantage Cabinets, Community Bank Owatonna, House Chevrolet, Jaguar Communications, Noble RV, Profinium, Terry's Repair, US Bank, Steele County Attorney Dan McIntosh, local media, and United Prairie Bank "for supporting us through their delivery orders."

The mission of Youth 1st "is to connect Conduct, Character and Community to youth activity programs, through values-based youth development. Youth 1st is a Playball! Minnesota partner of the MN Twins."

The site goes on to state, "The Youth 1st Team Award recognizes positive behavior from players, coaches and everyone associated with the team (parents, fans and spectators)...Over 25,000 youth players and coaches have received a Youth 1st Team Award."
