The Minnesota Department of Transportation says there will be a closure of HIghway 52 between Hampton and Cannon Falls beginning Friday.

The closure will occur in both directions beginning at 9PM Friday until 5AM Monday, according to the Dakota County Transportation Department.

The closure will stretch from Highway 19 in Cannon Falls to Highway 50 in Hampton.

Detour routes will be:

  • Northbound: east on Highway 19 at Cannon Falls, north on Highway 20 and west on Highway 50 near Hampton
  • Southbound: detoured at Highway 50 at Hampton, south on Highway 56 and east on Highway 19 to Cannon Falls.

The closure is part of a Dakota County Road 86 interchange at Highway 52 project. Workers are setting bridge beams and replacing two culverts.

If the weather is bad, the closure will happen the following weekend.

The Dakota County Transportation Department says they will be constructing a bridge, ramps, loop and reconstructing 1.3 miles of County Road 86 from Highway 52 to the east. They will also be replacing two culverts crossing Highway 52 and closing to median crossovers.

Officials say the improvements will "increase safety and improve traffic flow at this intersection."
