DECA Shines at Bashers Faribowl Show on KDHL
Three members of the Faribault Senior High School DECA Club stopped by Bashers Faribowl Center today to highlight their organization.
It was fun to hear FHS DECA Club President Thomas Malecha, Myles Munoz and Clara Malecha educate us about what they do. Clara is a junior the gentlemen both seniors.
DECA is not an acronym. DECA is an international organization that provides high school and college students networking opportunities, social interactions, real life business scenarios and guest speakers from the business community.
Royal Ross with G&H Properties of Faribault co-hosts the show and works with businesses through the Small Business Development Center on developing their business plans.
The students agreed with Ross that it would be a good idea to incorporate information about business plans in their curriculum.
Clara is an outstanding libero on the volleyball team and hopes to play the sport in college. She is undecided on a career path.
We learned Myles is very good at a stock market game students can compete in. He and a partner finished 16th out of 1,000 students in the competition last year.
Students get to invest $100,000 in virtual money in the market. He explains it better than I can.
Thomas hopes to go to college in the eastern United States and is interested in pursuing something in the medical field.
Girls Cross Country Head Coach Willie Clapp gave us results from the State Cross Country Meet the Falcons recently participated in. The very young team finished 14th after receiving a 15th seed in the competition.
Faribault Falcons Wrestling Head Coach Jesse Armbruster is excited to get practice underway next week. Armbruster expects an excellent season with a lot of wrestlers back from a 20 plus win team a year ago.
Bashers Faribowl Center hosts the show featuring Faribault coaches and athletes from Faribault High School and Bethlehem Academy.
We also love visiting with representatives of other school activities. Speech, music competitions, robotics, etc.
Lonsdale Country Market is also a proud sponsor of the program aired live each Saturday morning from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m.
You can listen to a podcast of the program below. Enjoy! Royal and I did.
