The normal deadline for farmers to report their planted acres or "certify" their planted acres to their local Farm Service Agency office is July 15th. Because of all the rain and the late planting season there was a mad rush to get certified before Monday's deadline. County Farm Service Agency staff have been overwhelmed with farmers that just finished planting. They can only get a certain number of farmers certified each day.

On Friday morning the USDA announced a one week extension to the crop reporting deadline. We now have until the close of business Monday July 22, 2019. So, if you  have not reported  your planted acres to your Farm Service Agency office call for an appointment. Better yet, have them email your maps. You can fill them out and email them back. Then it is about a 5 minute visit at the Farm Service Agency office to sign some paperwork!

Remember, all farmers that are in USDA programs or who have bought crop insurance must report their planted acres.
