A crash on southbound I-35 yesterday afternoon snarled up traffic for over two-hours causing traffic to back up to the County Road 1 exit on I-35. The two-vehicle crash ended up sending a 54-year-old Brooklyn Park woman to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. 

According to the Minnesota State Patrol website, at 1:39 in the afternoon a 2008 Hyundai Sonata was traveling southbound on Interstate 35 when it collided with a 2020 Kenworth T680 semi-truck and trailer, both vehicles were headed south at the time. As a result of the collision, the tractor-trailer combination wound up with a portion of the truck facing east in the ditch, according to photos taken by motorists passing the scene.

The driver of the Hyundai, 54-year-old Ruth Dahnsaw of Brooklyn Park, was taken by ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center with what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the semi, 51-year-old, Dewayne Poland of Osceola, Iowa was uninjured in the collision.

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash and both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. Also responding to the scene were the Rice County Sheriff's Office, Faribault Rescue, and North Memorial Ambulance.
