Cover Crop Interseeding Demonstration Tuesday
The Rice County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Cannon River Watershed Partnership will be sponsoring a cover crop interseeding demonstration event next Tuesday June 20, 2017 at the Jim Purfeerst farm southeast of Faribault. If you have never been to Jim's farm the address is 7803 240th Street East Faribault. The demonstration will be from 1 to 4:00 pm and everyone is welcome to stop by anytime.
Staff from the Rice County Soil and Water Conservation office and local farmers will be there to talk with about seed mixes, herbicides, benefits of cover crops and of course also the cost. Equipment that will be in action is a BZ Mftg 6 row interseeder, a Great Plaines No-till Drill and a Broadcast Spreader. This equipment is also available for farmers and land owners to rent. If it is too wet to be in the field next Tuesday the event will be rescheduled.
