Could Minnesota Have the Most Measurable Snow on Record for Thanksgiving this Year?
We're expected to get a TON of snow tonight... Yay, just in time for everyone traveling for Thanksgiving. The forecast is saying we could get between 9 and 12 inches of snow, according to NOAA, with this storm that's coming in tonight. Is that enough to break the record for the most amount of snow on the ground for Thanksgiving?
According to the Minnesota DNR, the most amount of measurable snow on Thanksgiving was 10 inches. That actually has happened twice (on record at least), in 1921 and 1983.
Looking at NOAA's snowfall prediction map (which you can see HERE) they're predicting the Twin Cities and Faribault to get 12 inches of snow, 11 in Mankato, which would mean at least those parts of Minnesota would break the record for the amount of measurable snow we have for Thanksgiving Day.
