The Class 2A portion of the State Boys Basketball Tournament has two quarterfinal round games scheduled for Tuesday and two Wednesday.

Tuesday the top seed Goodhue Wildcats will go up against the #8 seed Perham Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. in Target Center in downtown Minneapolis.

The game will be broadcast on KDHL 920 AM, 97.9 FM, FREE to download the KDHL app.

The Wildcats only loss happened December 27, 2025, against Winona Cotter/Hope Lutheran at Winona State University 82-72.  They are riding a 22-game winning streak and average the most points per game among Class 2A state tournament teams. (82.7) while giving up 65.4 points per contest.

Goodhue has a 29-1 record with the #3 QRF (Quality Results Formula) in their class.  This is their third consecutive year at state, but they were in Class A the previous seasons.

Luke Roschen, senior, 6'2, is an especially talented offensive player averaging 23.8 points per game with 58 three-point baskets this season.  He was the quarterback and a defensive back on the Prep Bowl Goodhue team that fell in a close game last November to Jackson County Central.

Alex Loos, sophomore, 6'2, is also a gifted athlete that excelled in both sports.  He is averaging 20.9 points per game with 53 three-point baskets.  In the Section 1 final game against Caledonia all his field goals were from behind the arc.  Seven of them.

The Yellowjackets have won nine straight heading to state with a 68.9 points per game average while allowing 61.4.  They are #43 QRF and finished fourth in the Heart-O-Lakes Conference.

Cypress Thiel, junior, 6'3 leads the team in scoring with 18 points per game.  Nathan Rustad, senior and Isaiah Farrell, sophomore, average 14 points each.

This is their 6th state trip and were champions in 2011.

8:00 p.m. Tuesday defending champion Albany Huskies, #5 seed, #6 QRF faces #4 seed. #12 QRF Jackson County Central the State Champions in football last fall.

The Huskies off Jackson County Central placed second in 2016, are making their 5th State Tournament appearance.  Albany is in their 8th big dance, also winning the title in 2023.

Albany is 24-6, averages 71.5 points per game while giving up an average of 53.1 points per contest.

Jackson County Central sports a 25-6 mark with a points per game average of 73.6 while giving up 59.4. Roman Voss leads the team in scoring with around a 20 points per game average.  The quarterback in high school is a University of Minnesota recruit where he is earmarked to play tight end.  He is 6'4 and during football was over 230 pounds.

Weston Rowe will play in the offensive line at South Dakota State.  The 6'7 senior can step out and hit a three point basket and is fun to watch on a fast break.  He can motor.

Wednesday evening Class 2A quarterfinal games are played at Williams Arena on the University of Minnesota campus.

At 6:00 p.m. #2 seed Pequot Lakes, 28-1, #2 QRF, with 21 straight wins and a Granite Ridge Conference Championship averaging 69.6 points per gamer and giving up the fewest points per game in the class 48.2.

Their opponent is #7 seed, #30 QRF Blake Bears, 19-12.  The Bears average 72.2 and allow 64.7 with seven straight wins.  They finished fourth in the Independent Metro Athletic Conference.

Carson McMichael, 6'2, senior, averages 22.9 points per game, Tramelli Wright, 6'3, freshman, 10.2 and Benji Dillon, 6'4, junior, 10.0 points per contest.

8:00 p.m. game will be broadcast on KDHL and features the Waseca Bluejays, #6 seed, #15 QRF going up against Minnehaha Academy Redhawks, #3 seed, #1 QRF.

The Redhawks are 23-5, Bluejays 23-7.  Both teams have many trips to state, Waseca 15, Minnehaha 14, with the Redhawks gunning for their 6th title, Bluejays their second.

Deron Russell, 6;2, senior, leads Waseca in scoring.

Minnehaha has great balance with Kellen Troup, junior, averaging 19.8 points, 9.2 rebounds a game with 45 three-point baskets.  Ayden Green, junior, averages 17.3 points, 5.6 assists with 46 threes.  Carter Cupito, eighth grade, 12.3 points, 3.6 assists with 66 threes.

Semifinals are Friday at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at The Barn.

The Class 2A title game will be 5:00 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2026.  Yes, it will be on KDHL.
