Rochester,  MN (KROC-AM News) - A Chatfield couple has been found guilty of charges they stole money from their ailing grandmother. Olmsted County Judge James Fabian today convicted 33-year-old Jason and 42-year-old Jessica Polikowsky of Financial Exploitation of a Vulnerable Adult.

Each of them was found guilty of a dozen counts of the felony offense, while they were both acquitted of one count and the judge earlier dismissed another charge. Jason’s father, 67-year-old Donald Polikowsky previously entered into a plea agreement and was sentenced to five years on probation and was ordered to pay $66,000 in restitution.

The charges against the family members say investigators began looking into suspicious activity involving the finances of Polikowsky’s mother, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2009 and determined that almost $400,000 had been taken from her accounts. The three family members were accused of using the funds for their own benefit, including the purchases of a home, building materials, and vehicles.

Jason and Jessica Polikowsky are scheduled to be sentenced on July 27th.
