The deadline to enroll  in the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) is Friday September 11, 2020. The CFAP Program was passed by Congress and signed by President Trump to provide direct financial relief to farmers and ranchers because of price declines and losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The application process at local Farm Service Agency offices is fairly simple if you have been enrolled in other USDA Programs or the Farm Bill.

After the initial rollout of the CFAP Program that included all the major crops and livestock species, the CFAP Program has been expanded. Now there are more than 160 commodities that are eligible for payments. Many specialty crops have been included like fruits, vegetables and nuts. The payments come from two different sources that can be a little confusing. In addition to the CFAP legislation some also comes from funds that were available in the USDA's CCC program.

No matter what crops or livestock you produce it likely qualifies for the CFAP Program! If you have not signed up call your local Farm Service Agency office soon!
