It was in 1976 that the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation and Minnesota State Fair teamed up to begin the Century Farm Program in Minnesota. The goal was to promote agriculture and to honor historic farms in Minnesota. It has been a very popular program since then. Many Fairs also recognize Century Farms at their County Fair.

The requirements for Century Farm Recognition is pretty simple. The farm must be at least 100 years old according to "authentic land records, have been in continuous family ownership for at least 100 years, and be at least 50 acres currently involved in agricultural production."

Applications are available on the Minnesota State Fair and Minnesota Farm Bureau   websites or you can call 651-288-4417. The deadline is March 6, 2023. I have seen some farms recognized as Sesquicentennial Farms which is 150 years. The Minnesota Farm Bureau recoginizes Sesquicentennial Farms but the Minnesota State Fair is not involved in this program. So, check with the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation for Sesquicentennial Farm Applications.
