Cannon Falls Team Wins Third Straight Class A Speech Title
The Cannon Falls Bomber speech team captured their third consecutive state Class A title today during competition at Apple Valley High School. Cannon Falls had seven medalists and so did Mounds Park Academy but the Bombers collected 41 points and Mounds Park had 34. Hannah Singewald was a state champion in Serious Interpretation- Poetry, Olivia Anderson was second in Original Oratory which was won by Sarah Best of Waterville- Elysian-Morristown. Iris French was second in Storytelling, Ryan Schlichting and Grant Schlichting finished third and fourth in Extemporaneous Speaking. Chris Baszuro was fourth in Great Speeches.
Other top Cannon Falls performers included Ryan Schlichting and Grant Schlichting finished third and fourth in Extemporaneous Speaking. Chris Baszuro was fourth in Great Speeches, Laura Johnson placing sixth in Informative Speaking.
Kenyon-Wanamingo's Evelyn Humphrey is the State Champion in Serious Interpretation-Prose.
Some other area students also did well in Class A with Maddie Harris and Josiah Rutgers of Byron placing 7th in Duo Interpretation, Brendan Walton of Stewartville is State Champion in Extemporaneous Reading, Benjamin Lewer of New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva placed eighth in Humorous Interpretation, Moriah Lippert of Maple River was sixth in Original Oratory, Colleen Dahle of Fillmore Central placed eighth in Serious Interpretation-Drama and Paul Cushman of Wabasha-Kellogg was seventh in Storytelling.
The Bombers are have Co-Head Coaches, Cal Vande Hoef and Holly Winget and the Knights are coached by Ben Heath.
