The Cannon Falls Bombers American Legion baseball team defeated Kenyon-Wanamingo 8-5, then edged perennial power Plato 7-6 to advance in the elimination bracket of the East Central Sub-State (3rd District) Tournament.

Randolph saw it's season end today 3-0 against Watertown.  After the Rockets high school season ended at the MSHSL State Tournament Randolph Legion Head Coach Braxton Lindow said they hoped to make noise at the State Legion Tournament.

A trip to State Legion is probably more difficult because they don't have four classes.  There are two in Legion baseball.  For example Holy Family is in the Winner's Bracket final Saturday in Arlington against Sibley East.  Holy Family during the high school season is a Class 3A school.  Randolph is 1A.

Randolph got a very good pitching performance from Nathan Weckop in their game against Watertown but the Rockets bats were silenced.

Weckop allowed just 5 hits and 1 earned run.  He walked 3 batters and struck out 3 while throwing 97 pitches, 62 strikes.

Randolph had 2 hits in the game.  Nathan Weckop and Evan Bennerotte each smacked singles.

The Winner's Bracket game between Sibley East and Holy Family to determine who sits with no losses in the tournament is 4:00 p.m. Saturday in Arlington.  The winner of that game doesn't play again until 2:00 p.m. Sunday.  If needed they would play again 5:00 p.m. Sunday.

The loser of that game would play the winner of the Cannon Falls contest 7:00 p.m. Saturday in Arlington.

Cannon Falls plays 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Green Isle against Watertown.  Watertown got by Norwood 6-4 in Green Isle.
