The Cannon Falls Bombers saved the very best performances for the end of the season and are Minnesota's Class AA State Volleyball Champions.

The Bombers swept their way to the title. Winning three matches without dropping a set.

In the title match they won in 69 minutes by dominating the top seed Pequot Lakes Patriots by scores of 25-17, 25-18, 25-21.

Cannon Falls was the #2 seed by the tournament coaches and had a team attack percentage of .302 which is very good.

Set one the Bombers smacked a .300 team percentage led by Madison Burr with 5 kills and .444 attack percentage.  Kallie Johnson hit .429 with 3 kills, Karsyn Winchell collected 2 kills while attacking .333.

The Bombers were so efficient at terminating balls there were only 21 total digs in the set.

Set two Cannon Falls continued their efficiency with a .364 team hitting percentage. Burr had 6 kills while attacking at .417.  Winchell 3 kills while attacking .750, Johnson had 4 kills and .333.

Like sharks in the water the Bombers sealed the third set again led by Burr with 10 kills while crushing the ball at a .643 clip.

Burr finished the match hitting .514 with 21 kills.  Johnson had 10 kills while hitting .296, Winchell 6 kills, .400.

Freshman setter Falon Hepola dished up 40 assists in the title match.  Elle Lind had 3 solo blocks, Burr 2.

In the Semifinals win over the Annandale Cardinals the Cannon Falls team finished with a .286 attack percentage led by Burr with 17 kills while attacking .457.  She also had 15 digs in the 25-21, 25-14, 25-17, 73 minute sweep.

Libero Kyra Schoenfelder added 26 digs, Hepola 35 assists.

In the opening 72 minute win over the Pipestone Arrows Burr had 18 kills in 39 swings with 9 errors for a .231 attack percentage.  Winchell hit .368 with 8 kills.

Kallie Johnson led the defense with 15 digs. Hepola had 29 assists.

The team had a attack percentage of .147.  You see they got better each step of the way to the State Championship.

Last year Cannon Falls went to state for the first time in their history and now they are Class AA State Champions.

I wish I could have been there to witness it but it just didn't work out for our broadcast schedule.

A repeat is hard but Cannon Falls will have Burr, Hepola, Winchell and Johnson back.

It will be hard to replace Schoenfelder at the Libero position but Head Coach Melissa Huseth did somehow replace an all-state setter from a year ago in their run to the title this year.

Somehow poetic that Huseth was chosen for the Cannon Falls Athletic Hall of Fame in October during her team's championship season.  The deserving honor will happen officially in May.

Final season statistics had junior Madison Burr with 468 kills (4.3 per set) while hitting .280.  She also recorded 113 blocks, 39 solo.

Senior Elleana Lind had 155 kills, hit .250 with 148 blocks, 58 solo.

Sophmore Karsyn Winchell collected 202 kills, hitting .151.

Junior Kallie Johnson finished with 174 kills, hitting .147.

Freshman Falon Hepola finished the season with 1,153 assists, 10.6 per set.

Senior Kyra Schoenfelder had 599 digs, 16.6 digs per set.

The Cannon Falls team averaged 7.5 blocks per match, 17.4 digs per set, 11.1 kills per set while hitting .212.
