The Cannon Falls American Legion and VFW Posts Color Guard are organizing what they are calling an, "Appreciation 4th of July Cruise." The idea is to go around the community so people can sit out in their yards and thank healthcare workers for their efforts to keep people safe during COVID-19.

The event begins 10:30 a.m. Saturday with staging at the Cannon Valley Senior Center.  The cruise will be led by the Cannon Falls Police Department, Fire Department and Ambulance with some people holding signs honoring Cannon Falls healthcare workers.

From the Senior Center they go down Minnesota Street to North 2nd then onto Mill Street through town and out to the Cannon Valley Fairgrounds.  Social distancing protocol must be followed during the walk and cruise.

Typically Cannon Falls would be hosting the Cannon Valley Fair this weekend just as they have over the 4th of July for over 100 years.  That was cancelled but then the  Cannon Valley Fair Board stated they would have fireworks on the 4th at the fairgrounds.

Fair food trucks will be set up Friday, July 3rd from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on the fairgrounds.  Schroeder Concessions of Faribault has been at the community fair for many years and will be represented.

The fireworks show will begin at dusk Saturday with social distancing encouraged.  Organizers are requesting people to bring their masks.

American Legion Post #142 of Cannon Falls is also hosting a beer garden both days on the fairgrounds.  Social distancing is also required there.

On a sad note the 34th Annual Cannon Country Cruise has been cancelled.  Scheduled for July 31st at 5:00 p.m. the 25 mile cruise traditionally goes through the beautiful Cannon Valley and returns to Cannon Falls.

Then the vehicles park downtown.  Traditionally food is available and music is played while people visit about their vehicles.  Charge is $5 per vehicle and an item for the food shelf.

NEXT UP: YOU KNOW YOU ARE FROM MINNESOTA IF...
