Downtown Faribault is about to see more orange. The City of Faribault announced on their Facebook page that the downtown intersection of Highway 60 (4th Street NW) and Central Ave will be closed beginning tomorrow (Friday, May 3rd) for the traffic signals to be removed.

The intersection closure is just a part of the major construction that is taking place along Highway 60. Several parking stalls on each side of Central Avenue closest to 4th Street will be marked no parking. There will also be a U-Turn area set up to allow traffic to continue to utilize parking on both sides of Central Avenue downtown.

According to the City of Faribault announcement once the signal system is removed the intersection will reopen with temporary stop signs for the weekend of May 4th and 5th and then will be closed again on Monday, May 6th to accommodate work in the intersection. There is no time table on when the Highway 60 and the 4th Street intersection will open back up.

In other construction news, the project contractor this week is scheduled to continue working on the sanitary sewer main replacement from 1st Avenue to 2nd Avenue. For road construction updates, the public is being asked to check the City of Faribault's Facebook Page or you can head here to get updates.
