The family of Brian and Jodi Keck were honored by the University of Minnesota Extension service as the Steele County Farm Family of the Year at the Steele County Free Fair Tuesday afternoon. The Kecks were recognized at the 15th Annual Steele County Livestock Hall of Fame Program in the Livestock Show Arena. What a great way to kick off the Steele County Free Fair every year. The Livestock Hall of Fame Program is sponsored by CFS The Power of Progress.

Brian joined Keck Farms in the early 1980's as a partner with his dad Lester. They worked to increase the size of their operation. Today the Kecks operate 2,000 acres of corn and soybeans plus a nursery to finish hog operation. Keck farms is truly a family farm. Brad, Brian's brother takes care of the hogs, Brain plants and combines the corn and beans, Jodi runs the grain cart and is the office manager, son Jayson is the agronomist plus other family members are involved.

Both Brian and Jodi are big supporters of the Steele County 4-H program and served on the Ag Advisory Council. In addition the entire Keck Family devotes time and effort back into the agricultural community.
