Big Day at Pork Congress 2022 In Mankato

It was a great day at Pork Congress 2022 in Mankato. Last year was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. I have attended Pork Congress since 1996 and it was always at the Minneapolis Convention Center in downtown Minneapolis. There were not many venues that had enough space for exhibitors, seminar halls, and hotel rooms. That is why it was at the Minneapolis Convention Center and Hilton Hotel. Plus, I think many in the Pork Industry enjoyed going to the "big city" for 3 or 4 days!

However, a few years ago there was an addition to the convention center in Mankato called the Mayo Clinic Health Systems Event Center. So, there were enough seminar halls and exhibit space to host Pork Congress. However, there is not a hotel with enough rooms so attendees are a little more spread out. But, on the other side Mankato is much closer to more pork producers in Minnesota so many Pork Producers will likely go home and then drive back Wednesday.

The three major topics of discussion was a new strain of PRRS, African Swine Fever and African Swine fever. There were also many concerns about labor.
