The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinal baseball team hosts Medford in their home opener Thursday evening on Power 96 Radio.

The Cardinals are coming off a 2-0 season opening win over New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva while Medford lost their season opener Monday against United South Central 6-5.

Tigers head coach Jon Chappuis was happy with the first game fielding of his club with Medford, finishing an error-free game on Monday. The Tigers fell behind early and came storming back in the game with United South Central in Wells.

The Bethlehem Academy Cardinals got a terrific pitching peformance from Anthony Van Thomme to lead them to victory Monday in New Richland. They could only manage four hits, but didn't need a lot of offense in the 90-minute game.

Bell Field will be super busy this spring with Shattuck Academy also fielding a team. In addition to Shattuck and Bethlehem Academy, Bell Field will be home to Faribault High School, the Faribault Flames and Faribault Lakers. That means there are not a lot of open dates in case of inclement weather so I'm sure the athletic directors will be doing everything they can to get these games in.

Coverage on Power 96 Radio 95.9 FM and RadioPup will begin at 4:45PM, with the first pitch scheduled for 5PM, weather permitting.

With the Minnesota Twins on KDHL Radio, a lot of our spring high school broadcasts will be on Power 96.

In addition to this being the first home game for Bethlehem Academy this season, it is also the first game at Bell Field this season and our first radio broadcast of the spring season.

The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinal fast-pitch team also has their home opener Thursday with Lake Crystal-Welcome-Memorial coming to North Alexander Park to face the Cardinals.

The Cardinals went extra innings in their season opener Monday in New Richland to record a 10-4 win thanks in large part to junior Shelby Meyer. Meyer had a grand slam homer to break a 4-4 tie in the ninth inning and also was the winning pitcher in the game. Thanks to a two-run double earlier in the game Meyer finished with 6 RBI.

First pitch is also scheduled for 5PM.
