Minnesota has done it yet again, we have made the top 10 for being one of the best states to live and work. This time, Minnesota has made the list for the Best States for Military Retirees. Thanks to the gang at wallethub.com, we have the results. Since the general age of retirement from the military is usually in the early to mid-forties, there are more options in play, including working at a second career.

Their analysis used a data set of 29 key metrics, ranging from veterans per capita to the number of VA health facilities to job opportunities for veterans. With all of those metrics being used, the list ranks each state and the District of Columbia.

The Top 10:

  1. Virginia
  2. Florida
  3. Maine
  4. New Hampshire
  5. Massachusetts
  6. Alaska
  7. Minnesota
  8. South Dakota
  9. Idaho
  10. South Carolina

On the bottom side, the worst State is the District of Columbia followed by Oregon.

Taking care of our veterans is a cause near and dear to my heart, so this study really makes me happy to live in Minnesota. We are in the top 5 for the lowest percentage of homeless veterans and most job opportunities for veterans.
